Thermal and visual comfort for reception area
Enviroblinds were contracted by Cummins Generator Technologies to resolve excessive solar gain at their international head office Peterborough.
The double height atrium with curtain wall glazing was exposed to the morning and evening sun, causing overheating and glare. Our client requested a visually attractive solution, maintaining the view to the outside whilst concealing the view of the security cameras from the outside.
We met the brief by supplying and installing outdoor roller screens in a fabric which blocked out the heat and glare from the sun. The fibre glass composite fabric was supplied with a 5% openness factor, masking the inside contents whilst retaining the view to the outside. The external blinds blend in seamlessly to the façade, with housing and tracks RAL colour matched to the window frames.

Motorised and easy to operate with a wall mounted switch, the screens were supplied with a sun and wind sensor to automatically raise or lower the blinds according to the weather.
The installation was successfully completed in 2016 with no requirements for repairs or replacement parts to date.
