Medina House is a new mansion house in Hove, designed by the award winning architect Keb Gavarito-Bruhn. The site was formerly a 19th century Turkish bath house which inspired the new build design.

The house required privacy louvres for planning due to the location between two blocks of flats on Hove seafront. Enviroblinds was contracted for the design, supply and installation. 

The challenge was to supply louvred panels that could perform in a harsh coastal environment. The profiles and guides were produced in stainless steel to meet the wind load requirements and the louvres made from accoya wood, which is a stable and durable timber.

The first and second floor feature a different bespoke design and colour of louvre to compliment the building façade. The folding panels are manually operated and kept in position with custom made solarium magnets and stainless steel vertical lockers.

The louvred panels provide privacy to the occupants who can enjoy the view to the outside without the public looking in from the promenade.

Installation was completed successfully in the summer of 2020 despite the supply and labour challenges related to Covid!

The building has been very well received by local residents and described as “an installation of artwork on Hove seafront that will last for generations”.
