External Blinds and Roof Blind for Glass Link
External blinds and a roof blind were installed above the glass link of this stunning new home. The glass link seamlessly ties together the renovated period cottage with the modern part of the house.
Our client who is also an architect, incorporated shading into the early design phase of the project. They wanted a system which would blend discreetly with the modern architecture to reduce solar gain and reliance on mechanical cooling. Screen fabrics with 4% opening factors in charcoal grey were specified to retain the view to the outside. The motorised roof blind was fixed onto each side of the building with aluminium L profiles. A vertical external zip blind was fitted to the front of the glass link to complete the shading on the front of the glazing.
The Results: Instant Cooling and Visual Comfort
Within minutes of lowering the blinds, internal temperatures dropped noticeably. Daylight remains and the glass link becomes a usable living space.
