It was great to exhibit Good Homes Alliance annual conference at The Building Centre in London yesterday.
The presentation of the Shading for Housing Design Guide by Tom Dollard from Pollard Thomas Architects was informative and inspiring.
To summarise his concluding recommendations:
✔ use future climate files when modelling to future proof our homes
✔ integrate external shading from the start of the design project
✔ dynamic shading first and foremost for energy efficiency
✔ Inward opening windows work best
✔ explain how the shading should be used
