The Green Blind outdoor wooden shades are an affordable DIY

Enviroblinds’ eco-friendly new brand, The Green Blind takes the heat and expense out of hard-to-shade homes

The British Summer is fast approaching, but alongside our anticipation of the longer, warmer days and lazy barbecues in the garden comes the recollection of the record-breaking heatwave of 2022 and our uncomfortably sweltering homes.

Never in the UK has the urge to install solar shading and mitigate overheating in the home been more compelling, but with the cost-of-living crisis showing no sign of abatement, we at Enviroblinds are well aware that this year may not be the right time for many people to make such sizeable investments.

We have also heard from many potential customers who would dearly like to install external blinds, but who live in listed buildings, conservation areas, or apartments subject to building restrictions that require complicated planning permission or even prohibit the installation of permanent shading.

Iberian Living

Well, help is at hand. We have gone back to our Spanish roots and found a blind which has been tried and tested for generations. Efficient, eco-friendly sunshades with the same simple design using sustainable pinewood.

Whilst green is the traditional colour, blinds of every shade adorn the windows of all types of homes, from apartments to village houses, up and down the country. And as a result, houses are cooler.

Launch of The Green Blind

Inspired by our experience in external shading over the past 10 years, Enviroblinds is excited to announce the launch of our new brand of stylish and sustainable external blinds, The Green Blind.

Boasting the same energy saving qualities as our precision engineered range of external blinds, panels and awnings, The Green Blind outdoor wooden roller blinds are a traditional and eco-friendly way of keeping your home cool in sunny weather, but at a much lower cost making them a  more accessible option to many more people. And as the blinds are removable, they’re the perfect solution for buildings in conservation areas or subject to other building restrictions.

Stylish & Sustainable

Historically, these blinds were made from vines in Alicante where they are still made today. The Green Blind shades are made from Albar Insigni, a robust and durable species of pinewood that is frequently used in construction and is sourced from the sustainably managed forests of Soria.

The wooden slats are linked with galvanised wire hooks and operated with a cord pulley.

Once in place outside, the shades block the heat before it gets through the glass keeping your home from overheating during the day. When windows are open, the blinds’ spaced wooden slats ensure ventilation and deliver a pleasant dappled light.

Eliminating the need for air-conditioning, The Green Blind shades save you money whilst helping the planet.

Removeable and easy to install

Unlike our permanent external fixed shading devices which require professional instalment, The Green Blind external shades are easy to install with only basic DIY tools and can be fixed onto windows, doors, pergolas, and outdoor structures.

To help you we’ve created a step-by-step video guide to installation.

At the end of summer when the heat subsides, or if you move house and want to take them with you, they can easily be taken down and packed away, though they are also durable enough to be left in place all year round.

Blinded by choice

Traditionally made in green, our blinds are also available in cherrywood, grey and white to complement the outside of both modern and period properties.

Available in four standard sizes, our shades can be fitted on most door and window dimensions with a wider selection of colours and sizes for orders of more than 10 blinds.

Prices start at £449.00 including UK delivery with quotes for export orders on request.

Please get in touch for more details or visit our new online shop, thegreenblind.co.uk to purchase directly.

Wishing you a cool and happy, sustainable summer!
